Today we follow used paper to a notebook made by the fictional CartaLuce cooperative.

  • Narratrice: La carta viene raccolta ogni lunedì in tre scuole del comune.

Paper is collected every Monday at three local schools.

  • Tecnica: Le scuole tengono i fogli usati in contenitori separati.

The schools keep used sheets in separate containers. At collection we check that the material can be identified, but we do not treat it as ready to become a notebook.

On arrival we weigh the material and assign a code to each batch.

The code links the batch to its school and collection date. If a defect is reported later, the team can find the right record instead of guessing where the paper came from.

The first batch of the week was registered this morning.

Before pulping, usable sheets are separated from staples and plastic.

  • Tecnica: I materiali esclusi vengono annotati.

The excluded materials are recorded. Sorting does not make the rest of the batch perfect, but keeps foreign objects out of the pulp.

  • Narratrice: La carta scelta viene sminuzzata e mescolata con acqua.

The selected paper is shredded and mixed with water.

  • Tecnica: Poi l’impasto viene steso, pressato ed essiccato.

Then the pulp is spread, pressed, and dried.

Each stage prepares the next. Before cutting sheets they must be dry; before binding them the team must know which batch is being processed.

When the sheets are dry, they are cut to notebook size.

Who decides whether a batch may be distributed?

The internal procedure P-4 says the batch must be recorded and the check sheet must be completed.

  • Narratrice: Quanti fogli vengono esaminati per ogni lotto?

How many sheets are examined from each batch?

  • Tecnica: Cinque fogli vengono controllati per spessore e leggibilità.

Five sheets are checked for thickness and readability.

These five sheets are a sample. The record states what we observed, who checked them, and whether problems appeared that need another evaluation.

  • Narratrice: Questo significa che ogni pagina è stata verificata?

Does that mean every page has been checked?

No. It is sampling. If we see a defect, the batch is set aside for another evaluation.

An isolated batch does not move on to binding and the shops. The quality team must examine the report and decide what to do with that material.

Before distribution, the quality team must internally release the batch.

After release, the notebooks are bound, packed, and delivered to two school shops.

  • Narratrice: L’ufficio comunale per l’ambiente controlla ogni singolo quaderno?

Does the municipal environment office check every notebook?

No. The office gets a monthly batch and checks report, but does not certify the products.

The report distinguishes processed batches, examined samples, and isolated batches. Receiving these figures does not mean signing off every notebook.

Is the batch code useful after delivery too?

Yes. If a problem is reported, the code lets us find the sheet and recheck the batch.

We can compare the report with the initial check. We cannot say that sampling predicted every possible defect.

The procedure makes the work traceable, but does not promise that every sheet is perfect.

First pass: follow the sequence

Listen to the full recording of the fictional documentary first, then use the transcript to check details. Identify the origin of the paper, the production stages, the internal quality decision, and the final distribution. This is not a real certification scheme.

  • La carta viene raccolta in tre scuole.· Paper is collected at three schools.
  • I materiali estranei vengono separati.· Foreign materials are separated.
  • Cinque fogli sono controllati per ogni lotto.· Five sheets are checked for each batch.
  • I quaderni vengono consegnati a due negozi.· The notebooks are delivered to two shops.

Second pass: hear four passive meanings

Find a completed event with essere, a routine action with venire, an internal requirement with andare, and a general action with passive si. Note why five sampled sheets do not prove that all sheets are perfect. Then retell the process without claiming municipal certification.

  • Il primo lotto è stato registrato lunedì.· The first batch was registered on Monday.
  • I campioni vengono controllati.· The samples are checked.
  • La scheda va compilata.· The form must be completed.
  • Si separano i materiali estranei.· Foreign materials are separated.
