Impersonal and passive si
Impersonal si describes what people generally do and uses a third-person singular verb when there is no plural object: in Italia si mangia tardi. Passive si presents an action and makes the verb agree with the following subject: si vendono case. With a predicative adjective after impersonal si, use the masculine plural: si è stanchi.
- In centro si cammina molto.· People walk a lot in the centre.
- Qui si vive bene.· People live well here.
- D’estate si esce più spesso.· In summer people go out more often.
- Quando si lavora troppo, si è stanchi.· When people work too much, they are tired.
