Message chain and instructions

Develop solving problems together through a focused writing itinerary.

Writing task

Write a three-message chain of 130–170 words for fictional order LC-482. Message 1 is informal to Paolo: ask for the two damage photos with an attached-command form and tell him not to move the shade. Message 2 is formal to agent Sara: give the order number, say the receipt and photos are attached, and ask for the next step without assuming approval. Message 3 is an informal update to Paolo after the follow-up call: say the replacement shade was approved, 17 May is the planned dispatch date, and the damaged part must stay in its box until written instructions arrive. Use combined pronouns only where their referents are clear.

  • Paolo, scatta due foto e mandamele.· Paolo, take two photos and send them to me.
  • Le invio la ricevuta e le foto dell'ordine LC-482.· I am sending you the receipt and photos for order LC-482.
  • Può confermarmi di aver ricevuto le foto?· Can you confirm that you received the photos?
  • Ci spediscono il nuovo paralume il 17 maggio.· They will send us the new shade on 17 May.

Revision checklist

Check the order of the three messages against the chat and call. Use tu with Paolo and formal Lei with Sara. Check that mandamele attaches the pronouns to the informal command but that a formal request puts them before the verb. Do not say the whole lamp is being replaced or that delivery is certain on 17 May. End the final message with a clear instruction to keep the damaged shade and box.

  • Mandamele, per favore.· Send them to me, please.
  • Me le mandi, per favore.· Please send them to me.
  • Non sappiamo ancora il giorno esatto della consegna.· We do not yet know the exact delivery day.
  • Tieni il paralume e la scatola finché non arrivano le istruzioni.· Keep the shade and box until the instructions arrive.
