Expert and non-expert versions

Explain one proposed method to researchers and residents.

Speak to the research panel

You are Chiara. Prepare a two-minute Italian briefing for a fictional research panel reviewing the Bellacqua library proposal. Define «ingresso» and distinguish it from a unique visitor. State that the operational rule for re-entry still needs a decision. Name the eighteen voluntary comments and their eleven/seven split without implying representativeness. Explain why a possible three-evening count would describe use but not identify a lasting causal effect. Use «per X si intende», one nominalisation, and one qualified inference. Do not present the protocol as completed.

  • Per ingresso si intende un’entrata registrata.· An entry means a recorded entrance.
  • La rilevazione è subordinata all’autorizzazione della prova.· Measurement depends on authorisation of the trial.
  • Limitatamente ai commenti ricevuti, undici su diciotto sono favorevoli.· Among received comments, eleven of eighteen are favourable.
  • Un conteggio descrittivo non identifica da solo un effetto duraturo.· A descriptive count does not by itself identify a lasting effect.

Speak to library users

Now give a one-minute Italian update to residents who know nothing about the project. Begin with the status: Elena signed a technical report; the committee examined it but did not vote. Say that three Thursday evenings in July and an estimated €900 are proposed, while staffing and accessibility checks remain. Explain «rilevazione» as «contare le entrate» and make optional feedback sound optional. Record both versions if possible. Compare them with a fact checklist: actor, decision, cost status, proposed method, comment denominator and limit. Ask a partner which facts changed; the correct answer is none.

  • Non c’è ancora una data approvata di apertura.· There is no approved opening date yet.
  • Se la prova si farà, conteremo quante volte si entra.· If the trial takes place, we will count entrances.
  • Un breve parere dei visitatori sarebbe facoltativo.· A short visitor comment would be optional.
  • Il numero non ci dirà che cosa pensa tutta la città.· The number will not tell us what the whole town thinks.
