Argument mission
Correct an overconfident policy summary before a vote.
Correct the chair’s draft summary
The fictional committee chair has drafted this false summary: “Most city residents approved the pilot. Thirty-four people will attend every week, all forty places are booked, the final cost is €3,700, and the committee has authorised longer hours.” Give a 90-second spoken correction for the chair. State that 78 of 120 self-selected respondents favour the proposal, 34 express possible weekly attendance, forty is room capacity, €3,700 is an estimate, and no vote has occurred. State the actual proposal: twelve weeks, Tuesdays and Thursdays, 19:00–21:00. Concede its possible benefit, then give conditions for a responsible vote.
- Benché il sondaggio sia favorevole, non rappresenta necessariamente tutta la città.· Although the survey is favourable, it does not necessarily represent the whole city.
- Trentaquattro persone potrebbero venire, ma non sono visite osservate.· Thirty-four people might come, but these are not observed visits.
- I tremilasettecento euro sono una stima, non il costo finale.· The €3,700 is an estimate, not the final cost.
- Il comitato non ha ancora votato.· The committee has not voted yet.
Submit a replacement decision note
Write a 280–340-word Italian note for the committee record. Correct every error in the draft, distinguish survey intention from observed demand and estimated from actual costs, and explain why a narrow €300 estimated margin needs an updated budget. Recommend postponing a vote until staffing, evening transport, and evaluation criteria are available. Use cause, purpose, concession, and restriction with correct Italian forms; mark each relation in your draft. If you recommend a later pilot, say that its actual visits and costs should be published after twelve weeks. Do not announce an approval that has not happened. No automatic assessment of speech or writing is supplied.
- Poiché mancano verifiche, il voto dovrebbe attendere.· Because checks are missing, the vote should wait.
- Definiamo i criteri affinché la prova possa essere valutata.· Let us define criteria so that the trial can be evaluated.
- Pur riconoscendo l’interesse, non possiamo chiamarlo frequenza accertata.· While recognising interest, we cannot call it established attendance.
- Il pilota sarà proponibile solo a condizione che la spesa resti entro il tetto.· The pilot can be proposed only if spending stays under the ceiling.
