Crafted narrative

Write a fictional museum narrative with a separate source note.

Write the exhibit text

Write 280–350 Italian words for a museum display titled «Quattro date per un ponte». This is a fictional exhibit, so label it as such. In paragraph one, give the setting and 12 May observations. In paragraph two, narrate the warning, closure, and 13 May damage. In paragraph three, distinguish the 16 May inspection from the 20 May diary and close with a limit of the evidence. Use at least four passato remoto verbs, one imperfetto description, and one natural trapassato remoto time clause. Choose remote past as the main frame; if you use historic present, make a deliberate, clearly bounded shift.

  • La sera del 12 maggio il fiume cresceva.· On the evening of 12 May the river was rising.
  • Marta notò una crepa e avvertì il sindaco.· Marta noticed a crack and warned the mayor.
  • Dopo che ebbe dato l’avviso, tornò al ponte.· After she had given the warning, she returned to the bridge.
  • All’alba la piena danneggiò la struttura.· At dawn the flood damaged the structure.

Add a 50-word source note and revise

Below your narrative, write about 50 Italian words headed «Nota sulle fonti». Name the fictional notebook, municipal register, inspection report, and later diary. State which one records the closure order and why the text cannot count lives saved. This note is separate from the 280–350-word exhibit text. In revision, underline each date, check the order of the two past actions in your trapassato remoto clause, and remove any unsupported detail that sounds like a documented fact.

  • Il taccuino registra l’osservazione di Marta.· The notebook records Marta’s observation.
  • Il registro comunale documenta la chiusura.· The municipal record documents the closure.
  • Il verbale descrive le condizioni del 16 maggio.· The report describes conditions on 16 May.
  • Il diario del 20 maggio racconta la memoria di Marta.· The diary of 20 May recounts Marta’s memory.
