Sustain spontaneous interaction
Lead a public update and answer an unscripted question.
Speak as Anna at the Thursday meeting
In the fictional case, you are Anna. Give a two-minute public update without reading a script. Explain the proposed Tuesday 18:00 language-exchange evening, the requested but unconfirmed room and twenty chairs, the lack of registrations, and the expected reply by Friday noon. Name Luca’s poster draft and his Tuesday 19:00 departure. Explain that Sara can stay later if the event happens, but she must check access after the actual room is known. Use two pronominal-verb forms and two discourse markers, but make the conditions clear to the public.
- Allora, proponiamo una serata per martedì alle diciotto.· So, we propose an evening for Tuesday at 18:00.
- Ce la facciamo a preparare una bozza, ma non a confermare la sala.· We can manage to prepare a draft, but not to confirm the room.
- Luca se la cava con la grafica; pubblicherà solo dopo le verifiche.· Luca can handle the graphics; he will publish only after the checks.
- Insomma, le venti sedie richieste non sono venti prenotazioni.· In short, twenty requested chairs are not twenty bookings.
Answer, repair, and repeat
A listener asks: “Can I book a place now? Is the room accessible?” Answer in 30–45 seconds. Say no place can be booked yet and access is still to be checked. If you misspeak, correct yourself without restarting. Repeat the update with only five keywords. Check that your public register stays clear and that you do not present a plan as a confirmed fact. No recording or automatic speaking assessment is supplied for this task.
- Mi correggo: abbiamo richiesto venti sedie, non aperto le iscrizioni.· I correct myself: we requested twenty chairs; we have not opened registration.
- A proposito dell’accesso, Sara controllerà il percorso quando sapremo quale sala usare.· As for access, Sara will check the route when we know which room to use.
- Se la sala non sarà confermata entro venerdì a mezzogiorno, rinvieremo.· If the room is not confirmed by Friday noon, we will postpone.
- Martedì Luca se ne va alle diciannove; Sara può restare dopo di lui.· On Tuesday Luca leaves at 19:00; Sara can stay after him.
