Unprepared familiar conversation

Speak to a coordinator when a weekend plan changes.

Role-play: call Paolo

You are Sara. A partner plays Paolo, a coordinator you do not know well. Speak for two to three minutes without reading a complete script. Your train is expected at 10:55; the library is fifteen minutes from the station. Explain why you cannot begin the 11:00 set-up. Offer to help with visitor welcome, ask for the step-free entrance, and confirm the 16:00 meeting. Use Lei with Paolo. Your goal is an agreed next action, not a perfect speech.

  • La chiamo perché il treno è in ritardo.· I am calling because the train is late.
  • Potrei aiutarvi all’accoglienza dopo le 11:10.· I could help you welcome visitors after 11:10.
  • Quale ingresso deve usare una persona che non può salire i gradini?· Which entrance should a person who cannot climb steps use?
  • Se ho capito bene, ci vediamo alla porta laterale.· If I understood correctly, we will meet at the side door.

Answer a new question and check yourself

Ask your partner to add one unexpected question: What if the train is later, or what condition matters most for the square trial? Answer without a prepared sentence. State a fact from the dossier, then your view. If you do not know a detail, say so and ask how to confirm it. Repeat the call once, with fewer notes. Check clarity, register, past sequence, conditional suggestions, and a useful connector.

  • Se il treno arriva ancora più tardi, le mando un nuovo messaggio.· If the train arrives even later, I will send you a new message.
  • Penso che il percorso accessibile sia essenziale.· I think the accessible route is essential.
  • Non so ancora chi raccoglierà le segnalazioni. Possiamo chiederlo?· I do not yet know who will collect reports. Can we ask?
  • Sono favorevole alla prova; tuttavia, servono condizioni chiare.· I support the trial; however, clear conditions are needed.
