Structured opinion text

Develop connected discourse through a focused writing itinerary.

Writing task

Write a 220–260 word opinion text for the fictional Borgo Nuovo newsletter. Readers know that a three-month Piazza del Tiglio trial is proposed but have not read the panel transcript. State whether you support a trial and under which conditions. Explain one benefit, present the shop-delivery and accessible-route concerns fairly, and answer each with a realistic measure from the article or panel. End with what should be checked after three months. Use cause, result, contrast, and concession connectors in their correct logical roles; do not invent survey data or imply approval.

  • Sostengo una prova limitata, perché la piazza offre pochi posti per fermarsi.· I support a limited trial because the square has few places to stop.
  • I commercianti hanno bisogno delle consegne; quindi serve un accesso mattutino.· Shop owners need deliveries; therefore morning access is necessary.
  • Anche se le fioriere sono mobili, non devono bloccare il passaggio.· Although the planters are movable, they must not block the route.
  • Tuttavia il consiglio non ha ancora approvato la proposta.· However, the council has not yet approved the proposal.

Revision checklist

Underline the main claim and the evidence for it. Mark each connector and ask whether it signals cause, result, contrast, or concession. Check that delivery times, the accessible route, and the three-month review are specific. Remove any statement that turns one person's observation into a measured fact or turns the proposed trial into an approved policy.

  • La mia osservazione non è un conteggio ufficiale.· My observation is not an official count.
  • Sebbene alcuni siano favorevoli, altri chiedono condizioni precise.· Although some support it, others ask for precise conditions.
  • Dopo tre mesi si dovrebbero valutare anche i problemi segnalati.· After three months, reported problems should also be assessed.
  • Se manca un percorso accessibile, preferisco rimandare la prova.· If an accessible route is missing, I prefer to delay the trial.
