Short public presentation
Develop connected discourse through a focused speaking itinerary.
Speaking task
You speak for two minutes at the next Borgo Nuovo residents' meeting. Present the fictional three-month Piazza del Tiglio proposal to people who have not read the article. Explain the Saturday-afternoon plan, one possible benefit, and the delivery and access concerns. Give a practical condition for a trial, then ask the audience one open question. Use at least one cause connector, one result connector, and one contrast or concession. Do not say the trial has already been approved.
- Il gruppo propone una prova di tre mesi, non una chiusura definitiva.· The group proposes a three-month trial, not a permanent closure.
- Poiché servono posti dove fermarsi, si propongono panchine mobili.· Because places to stop are needed, movable benches are proposed.
- I negozi ricevono merci al mattino; perciò quell'accesso resterebbe aperto.· Shops receive goods in the morning; therefore that access would remain open.
- Anche se il progetto è temporaneo, il percorso deve restare accessibile.· Although the project is temporary, the route must remain accessible.
Performance and self-check
Plan five parts: proposal, benefit, two concerns, condition, audience question. Record once and listen back. Check that each connector expresses the relation you intend, that your examples come from the article or panel, and that your final question invites discussion rather than a yes-or-no vote. Repeat with fewer notes.
- Gianni chiede un contatto per le consegne impreviste.· Gianni asks for a contact for unexpected deliveries.
- Amina vuole che si misuri il percorso prima di mettere le fioriere.· Amina wants the route measured before planters are placed.
- Tuttavia non sappiamo ancora quante persone useranno la piazza.· However, we do not yet know how many people will use the square.
- Quale problema dovremmo osservare con più attenzione durante la prova?· Which problem should we watch most closely during the trial?
