Recount your weekend

Develop yesterday through a focused speaking itinerary.

Speaking task

You have one minute to tell an Italian friend about your last weekend. Say where you went, when you arrived, whom you met, and two things you did. Use at least six past-tense verbs. Include one verb with essere and one with avere. Then ask your friend one question about their weekend.

  • Ieri ho visitato Firenze.· Yesterday I visited Florence.
  • Abbiamo visto un film.· We watched a film.
  • Sabato scorso sono andata al mercato, poi ho cucinato.· Last Saturday I went to the market, then I cooked.
  • Che cosa hai fatto nel weekend?· What did you do at the weekend?

Performance and self-check

Write six keywords, not full sentences. Speak for 45–60 seconds. Record yourself if you can. Listen for the order of events, the correct auxiliary, and agreement after essere (sono andato/andata). Repeat without reading. Your listener must be able to say where you went and what you did.

  • Sabato ho lavorato, ma domenica sono andato al lago.· On Saturday I worked, but on Sunday I went to the lake.
  • Hai nuotato?· Did you swim?
  • No, ho fatto una passeggiata e ho letto un libro.· No, I went for a walk and read a book.
  • parlare → parlato; credere → creduto; dormire → dormito· to speak → spoken; to believe → believed; to sleep → slept
