Photo captions

Write a short complete text and check it with a clear language checklist.

A room with a green sofa, three yellow cushions, long red curtains, an open white door, a wooden table with a blue cup, a bookshelf, a chair, and a bed with a lamp nearby. — Look closely: describe only objects and colours that you can see.

Writing task

Look at the room photo above. Write eight captions about eight different things you can see. Each caption must contain an article, a noun, and one correct adjective. Use c’è or ci sono in at least four captions. Check each colour and count against the photo.

C’è un divano verde.· There is a green sofa.
Ci sono tre cuscini gialli.· There are three yellow cushions.
La porta bianca è aperta.· The white door is open.
Le tende rosse sono lunghe.· The red curtains are long.

Model and editing check

Use the models as sentence frames, but change the information. Check verbs, agreement, small words, spelling, accents, and punctuation before you finish.

Sul tavolo c’è una tazza blu.· There is a blue cup on the table.
I libri nuovi sono sullo scaffale.· The new books are on the shelf.
Vicino al letto c’è una lampada piccola.· Near the bed there is a small lamp.
Non ci sono sedie nere.· There are no black chairs.
