Introduce yourself

Produce a short spoken response with the grammar and vocabulary from this Tappa.

Speaking task

Prepare a 30-second introduction. Say a greeting, your name, your country or city, your nationality or language, and how you are. End with one question for the other person.

Speak once with informal tu and once with formal Lei. Keep the verb forms accurate before you add speed.

  • Ciao, mi chiamo Emma.· Hi, my name is Emma.
  • Sono di Oxford.· I am from Oxford.
  • Sono inglese.· I am English.
  • Parlo inglese e un po’ di italiano.· I speak English and a little Italian.

Model language

Plan with keywords, not a complete script. Speak once slowly for accuracy, then a second time with more natural rhythm.

  • Oggi sto bene, grazie.· Today I am well, thank you.
  • E tu, come stai?· And you, how are you?
  • Buongiorno, come si chiama?· Good morning, what is your name?
  • Piacere di conoscerla.· Pleased to meet you. (formal)
