Editing mission

Correct false copy, then defend its architecture aloud.

Audit an unsafe announcement

A fictional rush draft reads: «Domani apre la sala di lettura di Borgofaro, Silvio ha spostato la panchina, il quaderno blu è già esposto e i visitatori entusiasti hanno dimostrato che il progetto sarà un successo!». Correct both factual and formal problems. The room is due to open tomorrow, so no future visitor reaction has been observed. The bench was moved, but the source does not name who moved it. Marta keeps the notebook in a box while its possible display is considered. The comma chain and exclamation mark make the claims sound equally certain; punctuation cannot make them true. Make a four-row source audit before rewriting.

  • Domani aprirà la nuova sala di lettura.· The new reading room will open tomorrow.
  • La panchina è stata spostata; non sappiamo da chi.· The bench was moved; we do not know by whom.
  • Il quaderno resta nella scatola per ora.· The notebook stays in its box for now.
  • Non conosciamo ancora la reazione dei visitatori.· We do not yet know visitors’ reaction.

Deliver an article, editor’s key and spoken version

Write a 280–340-word Italian article for Borgofaro residents. Start with the planned opening, then develop visible changes, Marta’s panel and the pending notebook decision in that order. Use one explanatory colon, one semicolon between related complete clauses, one bounded aside, and a short sentence that earns its emphasis. Add a 140–180-word editor’s key that quotes each chosen mark and explains its information function; identify one thematic link from one sentence’s new detail to the next sentence’s starting point. Finally give a 60-second spoken version and mark two purposeful pauses. The three outputs must keep the same facts and must not promise a visitor response.

  • La stanza cambia funzione: domani accoglierà lettori.· The room changes use: tomorrow it will receive readers.
  • Gli scaffali occupano il posto del vecchio banco; la panchina è rimasta.· Shelves occupy the old counter space; the bench remains.
  • La panchina — conservata durante i lavori — è vicino alla finestra.· The bench—kept during the work—is near the window.
  • Il quaderno non è in mostra.· The notebook is not on display.
