Edit and justify

Reshape a factual paragraph and show why each mark helps.

Edit a deliberate run-on for residents

You edit this fictional rough paragraph: «Domani apre la sala di lettura nell’ex stazione, i vetri sono nuovi, gli scaffali sono dove c’era il banco, la panchina è rimasta, adesso è vicino alla finestra, Marta ha scritto un pannello, il quaderno blu che Silvio ha trovato è nella scatola, forse verrà esposto più avanti ma non è deciso, nessuno sa quanti visitatori entreranno domani». Write a 260–320-word Italian article for local residents. Put the opening first, group the room changes, connect the panel to those changes, then give the notebook its own limit sentence. Do not state who moved the bench, and do not invent attendance.

  • Domani aprirà lo spazio di lettura nell’ex stazione.· The reading space will open tomorrow in the former station.
  • Il banco non c’è più; gli scaffali ne occupano il posto.· The counter is gone; shelves occupy its place.
  • La panchina, conservata durante i lavori, è vicino alla finestra.· The bench, kept during the work, is near the window.
  • Il quaderno resta nella scatola. L’esposizione è da decidere.· The notebook stays in its box. Display is undecided.

Submit a justification with a fact audit

Add a 130–170-word Italian editor’s note. Quote three before-and-after fragments: one where a full stop changes the information hierarchy, one where a colon or semicolon clarifies a relation, and one where you repeat a noun instead of leaving an ambiguous pronoun. For each, name the meaning effect, not merely a longer pause. Finish with a four-item fact audit: opening is planned for tomorrow, the bench mover is unknown, notebook display is pending, and attendance is unobserved. Read the final article aloud; revise any aside that hides its main verb.

  • Ho spostato l’annuncio all’inizio per orientare il lettore.· I moved the announcement first to orient the reader.
  • Ho usato i due punti per introdurre una spiegazione.· I used a colon to introduce an explanation.
  • Ho ripetuto «quaderno» per evitare un referente incerto.· I repeated “notebook” to avoid an unclear referent.
  • Non ho attribuito a Silvio lo spostamento della panchina.· I did not attribute the bench move to Silvio.
