The editorial brief and fixed facts

This Tappa uses an original fictional article about Borgofaro. The former station waiting room is due to open as a reading room tomorrow. Its windows are new; shelves stand where the ticket counter once stood; the old bench has been kept and moved near the window. Marta has written a short panel that names the old and new uses. She has not yet decided whether the blue notebook of lost objects can be displayed. No opening-day attendance or public reaction is known. You are the editor: improve a rough article for residents without adding events, motives or results.

  • La sala d’attesa diventerà uno spazio di lettura.· The waiting room will become a reading space.
  • La panchina è stata conservata e spostata.· The bench has been kept and moved.
  • Il quaderno blu non è ancora esposto.· The blue notebook is not yet on display.

Compare «Domani aprirà lo spazio di lettura: l’ex sala d’attesa cambia funzione» with «Domani aprirà lo spazio di lettura. L’ex sala d’attesa cambia funzione». The colon makes the second clause explain the first; the full stop makes each claim stand separately. Neither mark changes the opening date. In the article, vary length only when it helps the reader follow an idea. A short sentence can foreground the unresolved notebook; a longer sentence can connect the bench to the room’s changed use. Before editing sound, check whether each clause still says something true.

  • Domani aprirà la sala: accoglierà lettori.· The room will open tomorrow: it will receive readers.
  • La panchina è rimasta; il banco dei biglietti no.· The bench remains; the ticket counter does not.
  • Il quaderno resta nella scatola. La decisione sull’esposizione è aperta.· The notebook stays in its box. The display decision is open.
  • Un ritmo più rapido non autorizza un fatto nuovo.· A faster rhythm does not authorise a new fact.
