Flexible C2 repertoire
Choose words that preserve evidence, stance and audience.
Use precise mediation verbs and evidence limits
A mediator does not merely simplify words. They select, explain and retain the source’s limits. In this case «risulta» can introduce a documented point, «resta da chiarire» marks an open question, and «non risulta» reports a lack in the available material, not proof that a thing never happened. «Attribuire» is an act of assigning a claim or action to a person; do not attribute the bench move to Silvio just because he found the notebook. Practise each phrase with a subject and an evidence source. For a public sign use ordinary words when a specialist verb adds no useful distinction.
- Dalle note risulta che il quaderno è stato trovato.· The notes show that the notebook was found.
- Resta da chiarire se e come esporlo.· It remains to clarify whether and how to display it.
- Non risulta chi abbia spostato la panchina.· The available material does not show who moved the bench.
- Non attribuiamo a Silvio uno spostamento non documentato.· We do not attribute an undocumented move to Silvio.
Move between specialist and public wording
Match the exact level of certainty across registers. The team may write «l’esposizione è subordinata a una decisione sulla custodia» only if it really means that display has not been decided while custody is considered; the public version can simply say «per ora il quaderno non è in mostra». «Preliminare» means before a later stage, not approved. «Verificabile» means a claim can be checked; it does not mean it has already been checked. «Riformulare» changes the wording, not the underlying fact. Write one specialist sentence and one public sentence for the opening, bench and notebook; underline any word that silently adds certainty.
- Nota interna: «La decisione sull’esposizione è ancora aperta».· Internal note: “The display decision is still open.”
- Avviso: «Il quaderno non è in mostra per ora».· Notice: “The notebook is not on display for now.”
- «Preliminare» non vuol dire «approvato».· “Preliminary” does not mean “approved”.
- Riformulo il messaggio, non i fatti.· I reword the message, not the facts.
