Time mission

Repair a misleading museum label with a source-aware account.

Challenge a false summary

In the fictional Pontechiaro museum, a draft label says: “At 16:40 Marta found the fault that made the bridge collapse. The municipality closed it immediately and notified everyone before closing.” These claims exceed the sources. Marta felt movement at about 16:40; an inspection identified a loose joint; Paolo received its report at 17:05; the bridge closed at 17:20; the notice was logged at 18:10; a route was posted the next morning. No collapse, causal link between Marta’s sensation and the defect, or prior public notice is documented. Give a 90-second spoken correction to the curator. Separate witness memory, report, and archive times.

  • Marta temeva che il ponte potesse cedere, non disse che fosse crollato.· Marta feared the bridge might give way; she did not say it had collapsed.
  • Paolo aveva ricevuto il rapporto prima della chiusura.· Paolo had received the report before the closure.
  • L’avviso fu registrato dopo che il ponte era stato chiuso.· The notice was logged after the bridge had been closed.
  • Non risulta che il movimento abbia causato il giunto allentato.· The record does not show that the movement caused the loose joint.

Deliver a replacement label and evidence note

Write a 240–300-word Italian replacement label plus an 80–100-word note to the curator. The label must be readable to museum visitors and narrate the event from Marta’s viewpoint and the documented sequence; the note must explain which false claims were removed and why. Use at least one pluperfect, one past conditional for a future viewed from the past, and two subordinate clauses with moods chosen by stance and time. Mark the four forms in your draft. Finish by checking that every factual clause has a witness, report, or archive basis. No automatic assessment of the spoken correction or writing is supplied.

  • Marta ricordò che, mentre attraversava il ponte, aveva avvertito un movimento.· Marta recalled that, while crossing the bridge, she had felt movement.
  • La chiusura sarebbe stata comunicata con un avviso registrato più tardi.· The closure would be communicated by a notice logged later.
  • Il rapporto indicava un giunto allentato, ma non che il ponte stesse per crollare.· The report indicated a loose joint, but not that the bridge was about to collapse.
  • Il mattino seguente fu indicato un percorso alternativo.· The next morning an alternative route was indicated.
