Research, attribution and evaluation

Use source language that preserves units and uncertainty.

Attribute a measurable claim

Use secondo il registro, in base alle schede, stando alla nota, and il questionario riporta to name a source before a claim. Then name the unit: ingresso, codice, scheda, risposta, fattura. A fonte primaria such as the register records a procedure directly, but it still has limits; a public note may select facts to persuade; a questionnaire records what respondents chose to say. Attribution is not a guarantee that the source’s interpretation is correct.

  • Secondo il registro, si contano novantasei ingressi.· According to the register, there are 96 entries.
  • In base alle schede, quarantadue oggetti funzionavano alla fine.· According to the forms, 42 objects worked at the end.
  • La nota dell’associazione parla di «quasi cento cittadini».· The association’s note speaks of “almost 100 citizens.”
  • Il questionario riporta trentuno intenzioni favorevoli.· The questionnaire reports 31 favourable intentions.

Evaluate method and scope

Use il denominatore, il campione volontario, il limite metodologico, l’esito immediato, and il costo documentato. Ask whether an item was counted repeatedly, whether respondents selected themselves, when a result was checked, and what a cost excludes. The terms help you write a fair synthesis: neither dismiss the organiser’s useful figures nor silently adopt its larger claim about citizens or lasting success.

  • Il denominatore della percentuale è di sessantotto oggetti.· The percentage denominator is 68 objects.
  • Il campione volontario non rappresenta tutti i residenti.· The voluntary sample does not represent all residents.
  • L’esito immediato non misura la durata della riparazione.· The immediate outcome does not measure repair durability.
  • Il costo documentato non include le ore dei volontari.· The documented cost does not include volunteer hours.
