Mediate complex information
Explain five sources to a non-specialist council.
Brief the council as an independent analyst
Give a two-minute Italian briefing to a fictional neighbourhood council that must decide what evidence to request before considering another repair-workshop series. Use no more than five notes. Attribute the organiser’s “almost 100 citizens” claim, then explain that the register counts 96 entries and 61 unverified distinct codes. State that 42 of 68 objects worked at session end, not necessarily later. Explain 31 intentions among 37 voluntary questionnaire replies, €1,460 in invoices that exclude volunteer time, and one resident’s reported bus problem. Keep the unit and limit beside every number. No extension has been approved.
- Il registro documenta ingressi, non identità accertate.· The register documents entries, not confirmed identities.
- La nota dell’associazione usa la parola «cittadini» per gli ingressi.· The association’s note uses “citizens” for entries.
- Dopo aver confrontato le schede, distinguo risultati immediati e durata.· After comparing the forms, I distinguish immediate results and durability.
- La spesa fatturata non comprende il lavoro volontario.· Invoiced spending does not include volunteer work.
Respond to a tempting shortcut
A councillor says: “Then 31 people are booked for next year and 42 repairs will last.” Answer in 30–45 seconds. Correct both future claims without dismissing the project. Recommend one measure for future attendance, one later check on repaired objects, and a transport check. Use at least one clear same-actor implicit clause and two named-source phrases. Repeat the briefing without reading a full script. No recording or automatic speaking assessment is supplied.
- Il questionario registra intenzioni, non prenotazioni.· The questionnaire records intentions, not bookings.
- Le schede non documentano la durata delle riparazioni.· The forms do not document repair durability.
- Prima di estendere il progetto, verifichiamo i risultati nel tempo.· Before extending the project, let us check results over time.
- Una testimonianza sui trasporti richiede una verifica, non una generalizzazione.· One transport account calls for a check, not generalisation.
