Advanced mediation and register
Turn a dense proposal into a clear public explanation.
Preserve quantities and conditions
Read this fictional proposal sentence: «L’avvio del pilota di sei settimane, stimato in dodicimila euro, resta subordinato alla verifica dei diritti, all’accessibilità dei cartelli e a una delibera della commissione». Explain it to a visitor in two plain Italian sentences without dropping a condition. The €12,000 is an estimate split into €6,000 for scanning, €4,000 for captions and access, and €2,000 for rights and consent. Six family contributions were offered; only four allow brief quotation. Do not confuse six weeks with six contributions or permission to quote with permission to publish everything.
- Il progetto durerebbe sei settimane, ma non è ancora approvato.· The project would last six weeks, but is not yet approved.
- Servono controlli sui diritti, cartelli accessibili e una delibera.· Rights checks, accessible labels, and a decision are needed.
- Il preventivo è di dodicimila euro, non una spesa già sostenuta.· The estimate is twelve thousand euros, not a cost already incurred.
- Solo quattro contributi consentono brevi citazioni pubbliche.· Only four contributions permit brief public quotations.
Adapt the explanation for two readers
Write one 60-word formal note to the committee and one 60-word plain-language notice for visitors. Both must state the decision status and the three conditions. In the formal note, distinguish a recommendation from a vote: «si propone» is not «si delibera». In the public notice, avoid heavy nominalisations if a short verb works. Attribute the claim that the bridge closure saved people to a speaker if it appears; the fictional documents cannot count saved lives.
- Si propone il pilota, previa verifica dei diritti.· The pilot is proposed, subject to rights verification.
- La commissione deve ancora decidere.· The committee must still decide.
- Il registro prova la chiusura, non il numero di vite salvate.· The record proves closure, not the number of lives saved.
- «Approvato» non equivale a «proposto».· “Approved” is not the same as “proposed.”
