Formal proposal
Write a reasoned recommendation to a fictional council.
Write to the council
You are a member of Pontechiaro’s resident advisory group. Write a formal proposal of 220–260 Italian words to the council chair. The town has €120,000. Compare three library evenings per week (€90,000 estimated) with shade at six bus stops (€110,000 estimated). Recommend one option, give two reasons, identify an access or cost risk, and request a specific check before a final vote. Include one type 1 and one type 2 condition. Do not state that either proposal has already been approved or measured.
- Gentile Presidente, Le scrivo per proporre una scelta motivata.· Dear Chair, I write to propose a reasoned choice.
- La proposta A ha un costo stimato di novantamila euro.· Proposal A has an estimated cost of ninety thousand euros.
- Se riceveremo preventivi aggiornati, potremo confrontare i costi.· If we receive updated quotes, we will be able to compare costs.
- Se la biblioteca fosse più accessibile la sera, la sosterrei con maggiore sicurezza.· If the library were more accessible in the evening, I would support it with greater confidence.

Use four short paragraphs: purpose and recommendation, comparison, risk and needed evidence, formal close. Check that the €120,000 limit cannot cover both current estimates (€200,000 together). Label each outcome as a possible benefit, not an observed fact. Check se plus indicative for a real condition, and se plus imperfect subjunctive with a present conditional for an imagined condition.
- Entrambe le proposte potrebbero essere utili, ma il bilancio non basta per finanziarle insieme.· Both proposals could be useful, but the budget is not enough to fund them together.
- Chiedo una verifica dell’accessibilità prima del voto.· I request an accessibility check before the vote.
- Non disponiamo ancora di risultati misurati.· We do not yet have measured results.
- La ringrazio per l’attenzione e resto a disposizione.· Thank you for your attention. I remain available.
