Welcome to the Casa dei Binari, a fictional cultural centre in a former tram depot.

  • Sara: Da dove comincia il percorso?

    Where does the route begin?

At the ramp leading to the central hall. The façade keeps the original bricks.

  • Leo: Quanti archi vediamo nella sala?

How many arches can we see in the hall?

  • Guida: Dodici.

Twelve. They are the arches that belonged to the old depot.

  • Sara: A est vedo una stanza molto luminosa. A che cosa serve?

To the east I see a very bright room. What is it used for?

It is the glass room in which temporary exhibitions are held.

In the afternoon the light seems strong in front of the artworks.

That is a good observation. We have not measured the light or temperature here.

    Where is the reading room?

  • Guida: A ovest, nell’ex biglietteria.

To the west, in the former ticket office. Voices from the central hall are less audible there.

It seems a large space to me, but the reading room is quieter.

I would call it an excellent public space: I value the chance to meet.

Can we go up to the terrace that faces the garden?

The terrace, which is raised, is reached by six steps.

  • Leo: Esiste un altro percorso senza gradini?

Is there another route without steps?

The information available for this visit gives no alternative access to the terrace.

So the entrance ramp does not make every space accessible.

  • Guida: Esatto. Possiamo visitare il piano principale senza usare quei gradini.

Exactly. We can visit the main floor without using those steps.

I will describe the view as an opinion and note the terrace limit.

  • Guida: Ottimo.

Good. A precise description separates spaces, impressions, and access conditions.

First pass: follow the route

Listen to the full recording first, then use the transcript to check details. Follow the guide from the ramp to the central hall, east exhibition room, west reading room, and raised terrace. Identify what the guide knows and what a visitor only feels.

Second pass: form and evaluation

Find one che-clause, one preposition plus cui, and one formal il quale or la quale. Notice when the visitor states an opinion rather than a measured fact. After the transcript, explain a suitable route for someone who cannot use steps without claiming the whole building is step-free.
