Radio Valleverde: due quartieri in movimento

One presenter gives a complete radio report.

Good evening from Radio Valleverde. Today we compare two districts of a fictional city, Centro and Borgo Est. This exercise uses small surveys from 2016 and 2025, with two hundred people interviewed in each district in each year.

The question was simple: do you cycle at least twice a week? In Centro, 12% said yes in 2016 and 27% in 2025, a rise of fifteen percentage points.

In Borgo Est the value moves from 6% to 16%. Its ten-point rise is smaller than Centro's, though both districts show growth. Centro has the higher value in both years.

The gap was six points in 2016 and eleven in 2025. That does not mean every resident changed habits. The people surveyed in the two years were not necessarily the same.

A Centro resident told us she now cycles to the market and thinks there are fewer cars on her street. This is useful testimony, but it is one person's experience, not a measure of every road.

A Borgo Est resident cycles to work when it does not rain, but still finds the route near the station difficult. Two cyclists may describe very different routes.

The numbers show a difference between the surveyed groups, not why the share rose. The chart does not tell us trip lengths or whether a new street affected choices.

To understand more, routes, travel time, and safety in each area need study. For now, we can say that frequent cycling is more common in the 2025 sample, and Centro remains ahead of Borgo Est. That is all from Radio Valleverde.

Second listening: evidence and limits
