Una telefonata per cambiare la prenotazione

A customer calls a hotel about new dates. After the full recording, use the transcript for line-by-line spoken practice.

Good morning, I am Elena Riva. I have a booking for two nights, from 12 to 14 May. The number is 4821. I would like to know whether I could move the stay by one week.

  • Receptionist: Buongiorno, signora Riva. Controllo subito. Quali nuove date desidererebbe?

Good morning, Ms Riva. I will check now. Yes, I see your booking and a 60-euro deposit. Which new dates would you like?

From 19 to 21 May, if possible. My sister must work on the original weekend, so we could not meet. Is a room still available?

Yes, we have a room for those dates. But the confirmation says that a change is free only until seven days before arrival. Only five days remain, so we would have to charge 30 euros for the change.

  • Elena: Capisco.

I understand. Would the 60-euro deposit remain valid for the new dates, or would I have to pay it again?

  • Receptionist: L'anticipo resterebbe valido.

The deposit would remain valid. You would pay only the 30-euro change fee, in addition to the remaining room balance. We could also offer credit for a future stay, but then we would not hold the room for 19 May.

I would prefer to confirm the new dates now. Could you email me the total cost and terms before I pay for the change? I would like to check them carefully.

  • Receptionist: Certamente.

Certainly. I will send a summary with the dates from 19 to 21 May, the deposit already paid, and the 30-euro change fee. We will hold the room until six tomorrow evening; the change will be final after payment.

  • Elena: Grazie.

Thank you. I will read the email and reply by tomorrow afternoon. It helps to know the deposit will not be lost if I confirm these dates.

  • Receptionist: Perfetto, signora Riva. Buona giornata.

Good, Ms Riva. I will send the summary in a few minutes. If you have other questions, you can reply directly to my email. Have a good day.
