Book and solve

Develop travel and accommodation through a focused speaking itinerary.

Speaking task

You are Maya at the hotel reception in Bologna. Speak with the receptionist for 60–90 seconds. Give your name and booking dates, explain that the confirmation shows one night but you need two, and ask the receptionist to correct it. Ask when breakfast starts and whether you can leave your luggage after checkout. Use the polite «Potrebbe…?» once and at least two place phrases with articulated prepositions, such as «alla reception» and «nella camera». End by repeating the corrected dates.

  • Buonasera. Ha una prenotazione?· Good evening. Do you have a reservation?
  • Sì, a nome Maya Chen. Ho una camera per due notti.· Yes, under the name Maya Chen. I have a room for two nights.
  • Ecco la chiave. La camera è al secondo piano.· Here is the key. The room is on the second floor.
  • Grazie. A che ora è la colazione?· Thank you. What time is breakfast?

Performance and self-check

Use only the booking details as notes. Record the exchange and check that a listener can state your name, the wrong dates, the correct dates, and the receptionist’s answer. Repeat with less support. Check polite address, the difference between «dal 12 al 14» and «dal 12 al 13», and the forms «alla», «nella», and «della».

  • Dalle sette alle dieci, nella sala del piano terra.· From seven to ten, in the room on the ground floor.
  • Il binario è vicino alla stazione.· The platform is near the station.
  • Vorrei una camera con il bagno.· I would like a room with a bathroom.
  • Vai a Roma? Sì, ci vado domani.· Are you going to Rome? Yes, I am going there tomorrow.
