Whose and where?
Add the second grammar system and use it in controlled sentences.
Possessives, demonstratives, and location
Possessives normally take an article: il mio libro, la tua casa. Omit the article with an unmodified singular close family noun: mia madre, tuo fratello. Keep it with plurals, modified family nouns, and affectionate forms.
Questo points to something near the speaker. Quello points to something farther away. Use c’è for one item and ci sono for more than one.
- mia madre· my mother
- il mio fratello maggiore· my older brother
- i miei genitori· my parents
- la nostra casa· our house
Controlled practice model
Build each sentence from meaning to form. Select the verb or function first, then check every linked ending and the position of small words.
- questa camera· this room
- quell’armadio· that wardrobe
- C’è un bagno al piano terra.· There is a bathroom on the ground floor.
- Ci sono tre camere al primo piano.· There are three bedrooms on the first floor.
